Now that Supreme Court Justice Stevens announced his retirement, many are wondering who will fill his seat next. Although the political circuits are stating that Stevens is not slated to retire until the end of the year, we have reached a phase where the world of politics is talking. There are a slew of names that have come up as potential nominees. One of the recent names that has been added to that list is one of the deans of Harvard Law School, Martha Minow. Martha Minow is the daughter of the former head of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In her previous career, she also spent several years working as a clerk for former Supreme Court Justice, now deceased, Thurgood Marshall. Although the political circuit says that she has no judicial experience, she is said to be one of the strong possibilities. Another woman that fits this criteria is Elizabeth Warren. Elizabeth Warren currently serves as the head of the Oversight Panel, which is a panel that was established by Congress. Some know her as an author, as she co-wrote two books with her daughter. Elizabeth Warren is also a regular commentator on CNN. There has also been recent mention of a judge out of the state of Montana. He currently presides in a court that has a reputation for having a more liberal view to certain issues. Although the political circuit is naming the list of possibilities as a short selection to choose from, it is a bit longer than many of the other possibilities when previous seats have opened. Time will soon tell who will be selected in the end to fill the Supreme Court Justice seat.
